Kiko cosmetics came out with a new nail polish line, Quick Dry Nail Lacquer, which is hitting the stores this week. I swatched some of the colours in store and would like to share my first impressions with you.
As of today, they are only on the Italian website, which claims that these 40 shades dry exceptionally fast, in less than 60 seconds. Sorry, not true. You will see from my swatches that I got some evident marks on the polish, which means it wasn’t dry in such a short time. I also got some bubbles on the bright blue thumb, probably because no. 800 (the clear one I used as a base) wasn’t fully dry. It does dry fairly quickly compared to others, but then again remember that all nail polish take hours to fully dry in all layers (not just superficially). The shimmer shades in this line seemed to dry slower than their creme counterparts.
The website claims that they dry to a glossy finish and I can confirm that.
My swatches are all one coat, but many shades need at least another. Tip wrapping and top coat may be useful, as the combination one coat-no tip wrapping means immediate tipwear, as you can see below.
The bottle is round (eek) and with a flat, rounded brush (“cat’s paw”, some would say). Price is € 4,90 for 10 ml (not 11 ml as square Kiko bottles), but the current introductory price is € 3,50. They’re 5-free, as usual.
802 Rosa Dorato – 804 Corallo – 823 Arancia Rossa – 824 Rosso Fuoco – guest: O.P.I. Shatter Paints Rose (with no base, still looks horrible and outdated).
833 Azzurro Perlato – 834 Tiffany Dorato – 835 Menta – 838 Verde Petrolio – 839 Blu Ottanio
810 Viola Orchidea Perlato – 827 Viola Ametista – 828 Viola Pervinca – 829 Mirtillo – 830 Blu Metallico
812 Mogano – 813 Marrone Perlato – 816 Marrone Tortora – 817 Tortora Chiaro – 818 Fumo Di Londra
So what do you think? The shades are not copies of those in the standard range, and with all other nail polish currently on offer at only € 1,50 I fear that all other lines will be discontinued in favour of this quick drying line. We’ll see if I was right (I hope not, the standard range has lovely shades).
